DECOYS

A Selfish Endeavor

The way I see it, there's four things that give value to new duck decoys:

  1. Economy
  2. Weight
  3. Detail
  4. Durability

If I'm making a decoy for myself, I don't give a rip about how cheap I can get it done or if it's 6 ounces lighter than the next guys. I want it to be REAL. And I need it to be rugged. Crazy rugged.

Why?

Because I'm not just making them for myself.

I'm making them to pass down to future generations.

My kids. My grandchildren.

I'll make them for you, too.

How else am I going to afford mine?

How it Works

First, you have to contact me.

Phone or email is just fine.

It's helpful to know the following coming into the conversation:

  1. What you plan to do with these decoys
  2. Design features you're interested in
  3. How many you want to order and your budget

Then the work begins (on my end).

First I make what I call the "initial mold."

This initial mold is your unique decoy in one piece.

Before proceeding to the next step, I can:

  • Confirm your satisfaction via pictures and video

or

  • Send a solid foam replica of your decoy (fee applies)

Look Good?

- from here there's no turning back -

Then I make a "master mold series" of your unique decoy.

This is one of the unique features of Deed & Glory decoys.

See "Features & Options" for information on the process.

From this master mold series, I can produce and reproduce your decoy.

It's tedious, it's time consuming, and it's awesome.

Then I produce your flock.

Incredible materials. CRAZY detail.

And your 100% unique custom decoys.

Package. Ship.

Drool.

Features & Options

Features

The "master mold series" process used to make each decoy does a few things for us.

  1. It gives the decoy a rigid, inner, multi-channel skeleton. This adds incredible strength.
  2. It allows me to dye the polymer. No paint. UV resistant pigment. And that iridescent sheen you see on live birds? Built in. It's nuts. I'll state it again - NO PAINT.
  3. Internal ballasting. No keel. I can do flat bottom or "real-to-life" curved bellies. I can arrange the center of the ballasts to make the decoys tip forward or to one side (such as in a scratching pose).

These decoys are produced using sophisticated materials with incredible elasticity coefficients, (yeah, it's science), and are filled with marine grade closed cell urethane foam.

What does that mean? It means I go through a lot of trouble to make these things durable.

Very durable. The most durable. Remember that line about making decoys that outlive me?

You can literally subject these things to small caliber rifle fire, and they "shouldn't" break.

That said, here's an idea: Please don't shoot your decoys with rifles. (They're expensive.)

But yeah... these decoys are "ground swatting" approved. On purpose.

Customization is endless.

From block options to true customization...

Stainless eyelets or built in string loops? Swivel heads or feeders?

Do you want to see orange legs on that stretched out greenhead?

Corporate logo? Let's slap it on there.

Favorite Bible Verse? Let's slap it on there.

Motto? Saying? Joke?

Embossed photograph?

Seriously. Let's talk about it. I can do all kinds of crazy stuff.

Project declination:

for any reason at any time.

This is not personal, I love you. I love everyone.

Pricing and Copyright

What goes into the quote?

You want a quote, right?

  • Startup Cost
  • Pre-Production Cost
  • Production Cost

Startup - This will cover the initial physical design and creation of your initial mold. The crazier you get, the higher this gets. If you want something simple, like your name and contact info on the belly of the block, startup is simpler and will cost less. If, however, you'd like a custom emblem that looks like you riding a T-Rex stamped on the duck... that will take me a bit longer and will increase the startup cost. Prices starting at $250 (basic).

Pre-Production - This covers the creation of your master mold series. The number of colors and pieces determines the number of molds requiring unique creation. Hens are generally a bit cheaper,

but not by much. Prices starting at $250 (basic).

Production - This is the price per finished decoy. The price here can vary based on number of molds in your master series, iridescence layering, extra steps required during production, etc.

Pricing starts at $700 for first 6 decoys. Minimum of 6 applies.

A Note About Billing:

You may purchase a startup only. If you decide to halt there, you will not be obligated to purchase Pre-Production or Production of your decoy design.

A Note About Materials:

Material costs for standard duck decoys are included in pricing.

Due to material costs, there is an up-charge on goose decoys.

THE FOLLOWING ARE EXAMPLE QUOTES, NOT ACTUAL QUOTES.

PRICES MAY VARY FROM TRUE QUOTE FOR CUSTOMERS.

Example Quote, Fancy Wood Duck:

Wood Duck Drake, Stainless Steel eyelet front third belly, full belly (not flat), slightly forward of center internal keel, resting pose (one piece, no swivel head).

Full color iridescence on entire body. Most realistic size and feather detail. Glass taxidermy eyes.

Lyrics to my favorite song starting on the back of the head and flowing down the back. Because...

"It's More Than A Feelin'"

  • Startup - $300 to cover basic + eyelet integration to keel + custom text integration
  • Pre-Production - $350 to cover 8 molds in master mold series (this is 8 molds to create 1 customized decoy, not to make 8 decoys. I can usually get about a dozen blocks out of a master mold series, regardless of the # of molds in the series.)
  • Production - $900 to cover 6 blocks, stainless hardware, glass eyes, iridescent materials, 7 color dyes, polymers & urethanes, packed and shipped to your door.

Total: $1550

Example Quote, Suzie w/ Swivel Head:

Mallard Hen, Stainless Steel eyelet front of belly below head - swivel head (on bolt), full belly (not flat), slightly forward of center internal keel, resting pose. Most realistic size and feather detail.

Script on belly:

Matt Foley

Other Information

Who own's the copyright? Who owns the molds?

Me & Me.

I'll keep the mold series archived for 3 years, in case you want to order more.

Longer if we make a plan. No plan? No free rent.

After that, we will need to run a new setup (with new setup fee).

What if I want drakes AND hens? What's the startup fee cover?

One custom block design. JUST ONE.

That means if you want drakes and hens, you're going to pay two startup fees, two pre-production fees, and the production costs may also vary between the two.

I'll run this as two separate quotes before starting.

Who else can buy MY decoys?

Just you and whomever you designate. No mold series will ever be publicly available.

How long does it take to get my decoys?

You can't rush beauty. I'll try to get a timeframe when I run your initial estimate.
